Totally surprised by this movie... ok yes it is a biography, but I didn't know that this was the subject of Sting's, "Englishman In New York", song. Starring John Hurt, the interesting person of Quinton Crisp was enlightening to say the least. A day off, sleeping in, followed by this movie (that netflix rated 4 stars) merged into googling the person, and then watching the youtube of Naked Civil Servant (also starring John Hurt in 1975), and then actual interviews of Mr. Crisp.
What can I say...
Brilliant.
Aside from being an example of someone who just didn't compromise who he was, even risking imprisonment and bodily harm, the amount of poetic and recant that comes from Mr. Crisp is...
something to think about. I am sure he and Confucius are having a conversation in heaven right now about the fashion statement of scarves and big hats vs. robes.
